About Me
My name is Caroline Vanke. I am a rising senior in high school from Atlanta, Georgia. I play both high school and club volleyball, and I took up painting as a quarantine hobby in July 2020. UNC Children's has a special place in my heart because of all the amazing work Eric Montross Father's Day Basketball Camp has done for them. I was a camper there for four years, and those are some of my favorite memories. 2019 was my first year as a volunteer, and it was incredible to be able to help with the behind-the-scenes running of camp.

Montross camp
Eric Montross was a basketball player at UNC from 1990-1994 and then in the NBA from 1994-2002. While he was in the NBA, he started a father-kid basketball camp for kids aged 7-13. The money generated from this camp went towards building a better environment for the cancer patients at UNC Children's Hospital. So far, the camp has generated $1.8 million for the hospital, surpassing their original goals and expectations. When I found out camp was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, I decided to start selling paintings that I had made to continue to raise money for the hospital while camp was on hold. I have already surpassed the expectations I had for this project, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
